Abs are made in the Kitchen

Have you ever done one of those instagram 30 day crunches challenges and wondered why you have not seen results? If so, 1) forgive yourself now for wasting 30 days of your life 2) be thankful that you found this post to give you a secret about achieving abs.

The first thing to keep in mind when looking to achieve ab definition -abs are made in the kitchen! The only way to go get to ripped is by watching what you eat. Especially as women, we tend to store belly fat. Since you cannot target areas to lose fat, the best way to shred is by modifying your diet. A diet that includes plenty of fiber, vegetables, and minimal carbs is ideal. Additionally, trim water water weight by decreasing sodium intake. Try Mrs. Dash Salt-Free seasonings and marinades as a substitute for salt.

Second, you must work your entire core. While crunches can be effective, they must be incorporated with other abdominal excercises. Crunches simply work your rectus abdominus, you must work the other muscles that make up your core including the transversus abdominus, obliques, and hip flexors.

That being said here's my go to ab routine:

For beginners

Bicycle crunches 3 sets x 20 reps

Toe reach cruches 3 sets x 20 reps (each side)

Stability Ball leg raises 3 sets x 10 reps

50 russian twists (add 6 pound medicine ball or dumbell for more intensity)

For more of a challenge add in a couple extra movements

Ab scissors kicks 3 sets x 20 reps

Seated V knee-ups 3 sets x 20 reps

*Get it*
